Welcome to Sarathi Communication
Sarathi Communication is a dynamic wing of Sarathi Trust, a Resource Centre for Communications registered under the Indian Trusts Act. We specialize in creating impactful content across multiple platforms including print media, television, visual media, radio, social media, and theatre/street plays. With a strong commitment to education and skill development.
Sarathi Trust has successfully trained over one lakh students through its various initiatives.
Sarathi Communication extends this vision by producing engaging podcasts, visual content, and social media programs aimed at training, education, and awareness.

Shamantha D S
Shamantha DS, the Founder, has more than 20 years of experience in varies roles, such as Publisher and Editor, Associate Editor, Film Critic, Documentary film maker and Journalist across leading Print, Electronic and Broadcast Media.She has been a Fellow of Ford Foundation‘s Panos, KK Birla Foundation – Hindustan Times, PCI- USA, and a recipient of awards from Karnataka Sahitya Academy and Madhyam Academy. She has 13 Publications to her credit.
She has initiated, conceptualised, scripted and directed hundreds of documentary features in Kannada visual and Audio, Print and traditional forms of communication. She is also responsible for introducing Reality Show concept in Karnataka with various Kannada TV Channels.

A Trustee, is a Family Counsellor. Since 2009, she is empanelled as external member of Internal Complaints Committee of MNCs Pan India, nationalised and corporate banks, medical establishment & research centres, NGO Family Counsellor, Independent consultant to social and development organisations.

D.S. Shamantha is a prominent author, multimedia professional, and the founder and director of Sarathi Organisation and Sarathi Jhalak 90.4 Community Radio. With over 20 years of experience in various media domains, she has made significant contributions to development journalism, community broadcasting, and women’s empowerment initiatives in Karnataka.
Shamantha holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), and diplomas in Folklore from Kannada Sahitya Parishath and Journalism from Manasa Gangotri, Mysore University. Her academic qualifications have equipped her with a strong foundation in communication, law, and cultural studies.
Shamantha is multilingual, fluent in Kannada, English, Telugu, and Hindi. This linguistic proficiency allows her to engage with diverse communities and audiences effectively.
Sarathi is a Resource Center for Communication established by Shamantha in 2001. It focuses on mainstream media and field developmental activities, aiming to empower marginalized communities through communication strategies. Sarathi also runs the first Women’s FM Community Radio station in Karnataka, Sarathi Jhalak 90.4.
Shamantha has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including accolades from the Karnataka Madhyama Academy and the Karnataka Sahitya Academy for her literary contributions. She was also recognized by Howard University as one of the Best Development Journalists in the Asia Pacific region.
As a pioneer in community broadcasting, Shamantha has trained over 5,000 community broadcasters through Sarathi Jhalak. She has contributed to writing 104 episodes on development issues for Population Information Study (New York) and has worked with All India Radio and IGNOU’s FM channel on various educational programs.
Shamantha has authored several significant works, including “Giri Sneha,” which won the Karnataka State Sahitya Academy award; “Kadana Kashimara,” which discusses Kashmir militancy; “Himadagni,” focusing on human rights violations; and “Kautambika Nyayalaya,” which explores family court issues.
Shamantha has been actively involved in addressing women’s issues through her work with Sarathi Organisation. She played a key role in establishing the first Special Court in Karnataka dedicated to dowry deaths and criminal atrocities against women. Additionally, she conducts gender sensitization programs with local police departments.
As a film journalist, Shamantha has introduced innovative concepts in print media, focusing on behind-the-camera stories and advocating for marginalized voices within the industry. She has documented numerous interviews and discussions related to film-making and has produced short films addressing social issues like sexual harassment.
Sarathi Jhalak 90.4 is the first Women’s FM Community Radio station in Hoskote Taluq, founded by Shamantha to provide a platform for local voices and address community-specific issues such as health, agriculture, literature, and legal awareness. The station serves approximately 250 villages around Anugondanahalli and aims to empower its listeners through informative programming that resonates with their needs and interests.
